About the Vice President

Mr. Gines
D. Scott Gines became vice president for institutional advancement in July 2009. He previously served as athletic director at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, a post he assumed in August 2007.
He came to Texas A&M-Kingsville from Fairmont State University in West Virginia, where he served as director of athletics. He also served in this capacity for five years at Dakota Wesleyan University. Prior to his move into athletics management, he served as head baseball coach at Virginia Military Institute and Radford University. In 1985, he founded Virginia Baseball Camps, Inc., a summer father-son baseball camp that has been featured in Baseball Weekly (2002) and Nikkei Marketing Journal (April 2005). He continues to operate the camp today with a staff of 125.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Military Institute and a master’s degree from the University of Virginia. He also holds a certificate from the Sport Management Institute and is a fellow of the Higher Education Management Institute offered through Peabody College at Vanderbilt University.
