About the Vice President


Mr. Hughes

Randy Hughes received his bachelor's degree in political science/health and physical education in 1974 and his master's degree in educational administration in 1982, both from Texas A&I University (now Texas A&M University-Kingsville). He is working on his dissertation in higher education administration as part of a cohort who participated in a doctoral program between A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M University.

Before joining the university, Hughes taught in the San Diego Independent School District for nine years. He is a native of San Angelo.

At the university, Hughes served as assistant professor and chair of the health and kinesiology department. In 1998 he was appointed executive assistant to the president. In June 2001 Hughes was appointed senior associate vice president and named vice president in 2003.
