Russell Endowment Established Toward Professorship
KINGSVILLE (September 25, 2012) — The Texas A&M University-Kingsville Foundation is pleased to announce the receipt of a lead gift by Thomas and Jeanne Russell in the amount of $150,000 toward the establishment of the Ralph C. Russell Distinguished Professorship at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
Thomas Russell is the son of the late Ralph Russell and graduated from then Texas A&I University in 1962 with a degree in Chemistry. He is retired from El Paso Products Co. and now resides with his wife, Jeanne, in Colorado.
A named faculty position is the highest honor bestowed by the university on an outstanding member of the faculty. Gifts toward an endowed position are designed to measurably lift a program to a new standard of excellence and support the academic pursuits and endeavors of the holder of the endowed position.
Ralph C. Russell’s influence in the College of Business Administration is still felt to this day, and many of the business, finance and accounting students that he mentored have gone on to become Distinguished Alumni, Trustees and Board members. An educator, advisor, friend and Professor Emeritus, Mr. Russell served Texas A&I University for 26 years. He is remembered as a professor that exemplified qualities of personal and professional integrity. He maintained a commitment to technical proficiency by utilizing practical applications and problem solving in his teaching. Mr. Russell is also fondly remembered for his affinity for student welfare and engagement. He and his wife, Louise, were both ardent supporters of the university.
