Roberto Montoya Military

RM

Chief Executive Officer, VRC Corporation

Roberto Montoya hails from Corpus Christi, Texas. He has traveled extensively, and now resides in San Antonio. His career has spanned over 40 years with just two organizations -- the U.S. Army and VRC Corporation. In both cases, Mr. Montoya was exposed to many experiences with increasing levels of responsibility, culminating in top leadership positions as a Commander and then CEO of a defense contracting company.

While in the Army, Mr. Montoya was selected to participate in Warfighting Experiments and Advanced Concept Technology Demonstrations. Later, these events supported defining the future of the Army’s organization, implementation of doctrine, and intelligence, command, control, and communication systems from the lowest to the highest echelon. The results of the Army studies have been executed for the past decade, which Mr. Montoya has been able to support as CEO of VRC. This decades-long acquired knowledge gives him and his company the ability to support the assessment and evaluation of major systems prior to fielding to U.S. Forces.  It also provides unique insights to identify tactics required to lead through change and launch new products and systems to the defense market.

Mr. Montoya also uses this knowledge to invest in early stage ventures and advise others on progressions that will lead to successful commercialization.  He is owner of Interoperability Communications, LLC, which applies concepts developed in defense and academia to real world problems in schools and businesses.  Mr. Montoya has served as a board member to Nueces National Bank in Corpus Christi, Texas and his educational background includes four degrees and the pursuit of a doctorate at George Mason University. He has affiliations with varied professional organizations, such as the U.S. Army Armor Association and the Business Advisory Council in the Texas A&M University-Kingsville College of Business Administration.
